Christmas

Grandma and Grandpa Carr came up to stay with us for a little while so Tyler has been enjoying playing with Grandma. We have been snowed in so we have been around the house a lot. Grandma and Grandpa Carr are ready to go home to California where there is no snow. I am ready to go with them.We had a good Christmas and loved watching Tyler opening his presents. He got two main things for Christmas. He got a Fire Truck from Gma/Gpa Carr. Mommy and Daddy got him a train set. He loves both of them. He got lots of other things too but those were his favorite. We hope that you all had a good Christmas too!

We went to Grandma and Grandpa Mergenthaler's for Christmas dinner. Tyler got to see his cousin Josh (5 months old). He had fun making him laugh by playing peek-a-boo. It was fun to watch him interact with Josh. He is getting ready for a little brother of his own soon.

Snow Day

I HATE THE SNOW! When Matt and I got married I told him we could live anywhere as long as it didn't snow. It is pretty to look at but I don't like driving in it at all. We lived in Rexburg and Provo and I had a hard time with the snow. I was so excited when we left Utah for Washington. I wouldn't have to deal with the snow anymore. NO SUCH LUCK! So last night we got a big snow storm. They even canceled church today. I thought it was too funny. They never did that back in Utah or Idaho. I was even suppose to teach R.S. today so I got out of that. Since we had the whole day to ourselves Matt and Ty went out to build a snowman. It was too cold for me so I stayed inside. They had fun making a snowman and Ty sure did enjoy eating the snow.

Tyler putting the snowman's face on. He used grapes for the eyes, a carrot for the nose, and raisins for the mouth.

Seattle Temple

Last weekend we went down to Aunt Missy's house for Thanksgiving. Tyler had fun with all of his cousins. Missy lives right by the temple so we took Tyler to see it. It was raining of course so we didn't stay very long. We walked around the grounds and Tyler loved the water fountains. He kept saying "Pretty water mommy" ,"Jesus's house look Mommy" It was a nice family outing.

Tyler posing with one of the statues. He thought that they were cool.

Twilight

Everyone has heard about the series Twilight and the movie just came out this weekend. One of my friends told me about the books earlier this year. I love to read so I decided to check it out. Of course since they are so popular I had to be on the waiting list for a while. When I finally got the book I couldn't put it down and had to keep reading the others. They were so good. For our anniversary matt got me the series so now I can read them all the time. They are so good! We also found out that Stephanie Meyer the author was one of matt's sisters roommates up at BYU. So we thought that was kind of cool!

Last night I went with a group of girlfriends to see the movie opening night. The place was packed but we got there an hour early so we got to all sit together and got pretty good seats. All I have to say is that the books are so much better. I liked the movie but didn't love it like I thought I would. Maybe I will have to see it again. Edward could have been cuter too. I just kept seeing him as Cedric from Harry Potter. Oh well, it was good and I had a fun night out with the girls.

Dancing

Ever since Tyler was born he has loved music. When he was an infant it would be the one thing that calms him. Since then he loves to listen to music and sing and dance to it. Almost every night we have a little dance party in our living room and Tyler goes crazy! He loves it and has some pretty cool moves.

Last night our stake had a Family Dance night. So we took Tyler over to the church for the dance. There were a lot of other families there. At first Tyler didn't know what to think of everyone dancing. Then he joined in and had a ball. He didn't want to leave and we went home kicking and screaming. This is just a little clip of Tyler busting his move at the church dance.

Trick-or-Treat

Hello everyone I hope you all had a great Halloween. Tyler was so excited to go out trick or treating and wear his costume. He actually wore it most of the day. Matt got off early so we all got our costumes on and went downtown. Down on 1st street all of the shops close and hand out candy to everyone. It sure was crowded but we had fun. It rained a little bit but didn't stop anyone. At first Tyler didn't know what to think of everyone. Then he started to say "Trick-it" instead of Trick or Treat. Also when they would give him the candy he would get a big smile on his face and say "Thank you!" It was so cute to watch him.

Our ward is lame and didn't do anything fun for Halloween so we headed up to my in-laws ward party. They had a chili cook-off, carnival for the kids, and a truck-or treat. Tyler had fun! He loves being with Grandpa Mergenthaler. They are special little buddies. Enjoy the pictures. We had a good time.

Our little family. Mommy the ladybug, Daddy the basketball player and Ty the basketball. I am always smashing bugs or spiders with my shoe at home so when I got my ladybug costume on Tyler called me a "yucky bug mommy". It was so funny and cute! They sure do catch on fast.

My two boys. Daddy the basketball player and Ty the basketball.

Tyler our cute little basketball. Grandpa Mergenthaler was a basketball coach so everyone at the party thought it was very appropriate for his grandson to be a basketball!

Jack-O-Lantern

Halloween is here and it is time to get out the candy and the costumes. Last night for FHE we carved our pumpkins. Tyler loved pumpkins until we took the top off. He ran away screaming SCARY! It was so funny. So matt and I did the dirty part by cleaning out the pumpkins. On Tyler's small one we did Mickey Mouses face. It sort of looks like a heart though. Oh well we tried. Once it was all done Ty was excited to put them outside and light them up. Later we washed off the seeds and cooked them and they sure were yummy to eat.

Tyler was at Gma Mergenthaler's last weekend and Gma likes to decorate. She has tons of stuff for every holiday. So of course her house is all decked out for Halloween. Gma also loves to take pictures. So here a couple of the cute ones of Tyler at Gma's with her decorations. Enjoy and Happy Halloween!
Tyler staying as far away as he can from the scary pumpkin. He wouldn't even stick his hand inside. Silly little boy.

Fun Times With Family

This last week we took a long drive to Idaho. I have lots of family there. Grandma, Aunts/Uncles, and lots of cousins. My mom was also there while we were. So it was fun to see everyone and visit. I love being with family. I needed to get away and have some fun. It was a 12 hour drive and the kids did pretty good for the most part. My sister and her daugther also went with us. I wanted to surprise Gma T. and I did. She was so happy to see us. I also had a surprise for everyone. Tyler is going to be a big brother. YES, you read that right. I am expecting our second child in April. I am a little over 3 months pregnant and feeling great. I don't get morning sickness so I feel blessed. Here are are some pictures of our trip to Idaho.

Maelyn and Tyler in the car on the long drive to Idaho. Smile!

Cousins playing. I have a lot of cousins and loved gettting together with them. So I hope that Tyler will enjoy it like I did growing up. Emily, Tyler and Maelyn (left to right).

Tyler actually sharing with Emily. He was having a hard time sharing with Maelyn at our house. So when I saw him sharing I had to take a picture. We loved having my sister Katie and Maelyn at our house for week. Tyler just didn't want to share with her. They all go through that stage I guess.

Tyler and a HUGE pumpkin. He loves halloween and pumpkins. So when we saw one across the street from my Aunts house he wanted to go touch it. He loved playing with cousins in Idaho. Tyler jumped on the trampoline and had a snow cone for the first time. Fun Times!

Tyler, Debbie, Heidi, and Emily. Heidi is my cousin, roommate, and best friend. We have always been close and done a lot of things together. Growing up we saw each other at least once a year. When we took our yearly trip to Idaho I always worked in the snow shack with Heidi. We went to EFY for 2 years together. We were also roommates for year in a half. So I would say we are close. It was so fun to get to see her and her little girl Emily. I had so much fun visiting with my family and hope to see them all again next year.

Pumpkin Festival

This weekend we had a Harvest Festival in town so we took the kids and they had a lot of fun FREE stuff for them to do. The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed ourselves too. They also had a pumpkin launching contest that was fun to watch. I am always there when it is something FREE.

Here is Tyler painting his pumpkin many different colors.

They had a duck pond for the little kids to go fishing in. Tyler caught a couple and won a prize.

There were some Fire Trucks for the kids to play on. Of course Tyler had to play on all of them. That was probably his favorite part of the day. He would make the sound of a siren everytime he saw the Fire Truck.

Tyler enjoying a carmel apple.

Katie and Maelyn made a Zucchini/pumpkin car and raced it.

Seattle Fun!

This last week Tyler and I drove down to Seattle airport to pick up my sister Katie and her daughter Maelyn. It has been so fun to have them here for a visit. The weather has actually been nice lately so we haven't had too many rainy days. We have been shopping a lot or I should say as much as the kids would let us. Katie had never been to Seattle so we took here to a few places in town. Here are some pictures of our trip to Seattle.

Family Time

This weekend we went down to Seattle for Aunt Anjee's baby blessing. They finally had a baby (Joshua) after years of trying. We are so glad that Josh is here. Tyler loves to get together with the cousins. He has so much fun and never wants to leave. Here he is with Jenny! They are little buddies and do everything together. Tyler follows her around and says "Jenny, Jenny, Jenny." He also calls all of his other cousins Jenny. So you can tell who his favorite is.

Here is the Mergenthaler Family. About half of the family is actually not in the picture so you can amagine what it would look like with everyone else. There is about 9 more grandchildren and 3 more adults missing. It is the first family picture in the past 5 years so we were good to even get one.
Jenny is like a mother to Tyler. She takes care of him and makes sure he is okay. This picture was just too cute to pass up.
After the blessing and lunchoen we headed to park to let the kids play while the adults visited. Here is Tyler coming down the slide. He always seems to want to go down head first. He sure is brave and has no fear. So you better Watch out!

Happy Birthday Tyler!!

If you can't tell this is a Firetruck birthday cake.
I was making a red truck but I used all of the red
food coloring and it was still pink. I was not about
to give my son a pink cake. So we got some more
icing and made it green instead. It was really easy
after that and it even tasted good.

Tyler is eating his cake and ice cream. He is telling you that he is two years old. He only know how to hold up all five fingers though.
Present Time: He got a Pooh Bear foam puzzle. He loves puzzles!
Tyler opening another present with Gpa Mergenthaler helping.
Tyler has lots of little cars that he plays with so mommy and daddy got him this spiderman track to play with his cars. He loves all of his new toys and clothes. Thank you to both Grandparents. He loved his birthday and loves you all too!

Fun in the Sun

Lunch Time: Tyler was having fun with his PJ sandwich. He loves the camera. He is saying "Cheese".

The other day we went to the beach with some friends. Tyler didn't want to play in the water but he sure did love playing in the rocks.
After the beach we stopped at a new park. They have water that shoots out of the ground. Tyler liked that water. It wasn't noisy like the ocean. Isn't he cute?!
Here he is trying to get a drink. Too cute!!

BOYS WILL BE BOYS!!

Our little Tyler is all boy. He loves cars, trucks, tractors, etc.
We went to a tractor show a couple of weeks ago and he loved it.
He got to sit on the them. We also saw some fireworks! The other day
we went to a farm here in town where you can pick your own strawberries and
raspberries. Tyler got a tractor/train ride around the farm. He was so happy and
kept saying "Tractor, Tractor". He is repeating our words more and more each day.
He always has a lot to say.

August 2, 2008

Our little Tyler is being so cute! He is wearing a little Japanese

outfit that I wore when I was 5 years old. He found it in my hope

chest one day and wanted to wear it. He is posing for the camera.
